This class, plus additional course work, is designed for students seeking a knowledge base in an area of education. This class would be ideal for students interested in practicing an introductory career in education.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to obtain a certificate in preparation for pre-professional education careers such as teacher's aide, associate preschool teacher, or preschool teacher.

Intro to Careers in Education

Hours: 3.5 MWF Lecture/Discussion

This course is designed to provide Pathways into Education careers, by examining the principles and appropriate practice of the educator’s role. Emphasis on the importance of teacher-child relationships, and effective teaching strategies. This course includes hands-on practice in a child development setting and small group activities, including a review of the professional practices promoting advocacy, ethics, and professional identity.
